Wayne C. Dunn Spirit of Service Award
Each year, a Sunshine volunteer is awarded The Wayne C. Dunn Spirit of Service Award, recognizing and honouring an individual who has contributed to the mission of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada through his or her extraordinary, personal service over an extended period of time. In 2016, this award was presented to Sherri Bell of Stratford, ON, for her commitment to service and her dedication to Sunshine.
People with Big Hearts!
The caring individuals who volunteer for Sunshine have a lot of heart! With a small staff team based in London, Ontario, we rely on a national volunteer network to help us with our mission. Making it possible for us to support children near and far, Sunshine volunteers put their hearts into engaging communities and bringing people together to make dreams come true.
What do the members of Sunshine’s national volunteer network do? What don’t they do? From assisting home office staff with research to becoming Sunshine Bear at events; from organizing community fundraisers to speaking on behalf of Sunshine at community meetings. They are experts in their field, providing medical support to children on Sunshine DreamLift, and they are kind-hearted individuals who brave the hot sun or the cold wind at outdoor events. Our volunteers donate their time, their talent, and their treasure to help make Sunshine Dreams come true for children across the country and we are so grateful to our extended Sunshine family.
Who are our volunteers?
Sunshine volunteers are young professionals building their careers; they are retired people who may have extra time to give back; they are Moms and Dads who want to support a children’s charity, and they are you. From all of us at Sunshine, thank you so much to all our dedicated and spirited volunteers. You help make Sunshine Dreams possible.
